Christina Rest was born in Aschaffenburg, Germany, in 1986. She received her teaching degree in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Würzburg (Germany) in 2010. Christina carried out her experimental work (April 2009-February 2010) in the group of Prof. Würthner working on the self-assembly of a series of perylene bisimide derivatives attached to different crown ether or hyperbranched polyglycerol moieties. During this time, and as a result from collaboration between the groups of Prof. Würthner and Prof. Haag, Christina obtained her first publication, highlighted in Chem. Commun. in 2010. Since February 2011 she carries out her PhD in the research group of Gustavo Fernandez working on the synthesis, characterization, self-assembly and self-sorting behavior of a series of OPE and OPV-based metallosupramolecular systems peripherally substituted with either alkyl or polar chains.
