María José Mayoral was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1978. She received his Ph.D. from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain) in 2009 under the supervision of Professor Mercedes Cano Esquivel for work on luminescent metallomesogens based on pyrazole and pyrazolylpyridine-type ligands. Currently she enjoys a postdoctoral researcher fellowship in the research group of Dr. Gustavo Fernandez at the Institute of Organic Chemistry, University of Würzburg. Her research interests include the study and characterization of supramolecular architectures based on metallorganic-dye aggregates with liquid-crystalline properties.
