Research:
Within the framework of the graduate college GRK1221 (Control of Electronic Properties of Assemblies of π-Conjugated Molecules) the main focus is on the synthesis and characterization of foldable perylene bisimide oligomers ("foldamers") with a defined aggregate structure in the folded state, providing valuable model systems to elucidate the structure-property relationship. The resulting dye assemblies are especially explored by means of structural and optical characterization techniques (NMR, MS, UV/vis absorption, fluorescence).
