Research:
Vesicular self-assembly of amphiphilic perylene bisimide dyes in aqueous medium is desired. The morphology of such aggregates can be predetermined by the molecular shape of the single building blocks. Surface-functionalization of perylene bisimide assemblies with sugar moieties leads to supramolecular structures which are able to take part in recognition events.
