Research:
Perylene bisimides and related dyes have long been studied due to their exceptional photophysical properties, chemical robustness, and ability to self assemble. By making changes to the conjugated π system – by extension, control of oxidation state and by modification of heteroatoms – new organic dyes related to perylenes will be synthesised and their properties investigated. These new dyes might find application in molecular electronics as conjugated molecular wires.
