Research:
Perylene bisimides and related dyes have long been studied due to their exceptional photophysical properties, chemical robustness, and ability to self assemble. By making changes to the conjugated π system – by extension, control of oxidation state and by modification of heteroatoms new organic dyes related to perylenes will be synthesised and their properties investigated. These new dyes might find application in molecular electronics as conjugated molecular wires.
